hiya, I'm soon to be getting the mc 09, i understand that the dsp synth has 128 waves or something like that. but i was wondering....can you use two at a time? with a pitch offset? you know, like your standard 2 osc synth?
what about the drum sounds? are they really that terrible? i watched the mc 09 video demo from the roland site, and thru the light haze of compressed audio fuzz they sounded pretty d**n hot to me. better than the mc505 i had, which alotta people (including me) credit for having great drum sounds.
oh yea and...can you trigger the samples manually? besides just seqencing them?
btw. i think thats a good idea to get the manual up here. how come its NOWHERE on the net? what a shame, i looked for hours.
thanks for any info anyone can provide ;D
later, corey

hi dude
not waves ,the mc 09 has 128 preset tones for lead & bass, for rhythm it is 10
drums are : 1. 808 kit 2. clap kit 3. funk kit 4. standard kit 5. rim shot kit 6. breakbeats kit 7. 909 synth kit 8. electro kit 9. cowbell kit 10. latin perc kit
the drums sound good in a filthy techno kinda way thats the best way i can explain it
drums are polophonic MAX 3 at any one time the DSP synth is monophonic
the synth appears to have a single osc but has settings to sound like a twin osc the waveforms are TRI SAW PLS Noise also ringmod xmod detune can be added
synth parameters are : LFO rate LFO waveform OSC waveform OSC vibrato depth Filter type Filter envelope attack time Filter envelope sustain level Filter envelope release time Filter LFO depth Amp envelope depth Amp envelope attack time Amp envelope decay time Amp envelope sustain level Amp envelope release time Amp LFO depth Vintage mode (bass) Effect type (lead)
sampled loops are divided into 16 parts you cant trigger them like a sampler can, (except for original pitch) (hit loop control & press 1)
you can reconstruct the 16 parts to make a new pattern from the loop to make a new pattern
the effects are awesome, the isolator rocks, good filter too, great distortion & overdrive effects.

awesome, thanks so much for the in-depth specs
as i was writing the post i thought maybe the drums on the video demo were actually from the synth, maybe sampled bit by bit, then overlapped for a full beat. i think thats what they said it was. (they refered to it as "using the dsp synth for drums)
anyway thanks.
